Fuel Failures and Remedies

Objectives:

Technical training providing detailed knowledge on fuel failures and remedies. The trainee will profit from the experience and expertise of Framatome such as an incomparable in-pile database, a unique modeling know-how on different types of reactors, and a wide experience with safety regulations world-wide.

 

Content:

The training consists of the following topics:

  • Importance of fuel failures

  • Detection of fuel failures

  • Types of fuel failures (examples – the list can be extended on demand)

    • Internal contamination

    • Contamination of weld seams

    • Debris fretting

    • Grid-to-rod fretting

    • PCI

  • Remedies

  • Trends in zero failure initiative

The contents, the format (see hereafter) and the duration are adapted according to the customer request and needs.

The courses can be organized according to different formats:

The course materials are based on the most up-to-date world-wide Framatome know-how to provide to our attendees the highest quality on the technical content of our courses.

The teaching material includes interactive PowerPoint presentations and  hands-on exercises. The training can also comprise exercises on simulator.

The instructors come from the Framatome GmbH Fuel Engineering site. Their knowledge is based on years of experience in engineering service activities, as well as on the specific competences necessary for the training.
